Domestic Violence is Who's Battle

October is domestic violence awareness month. Domestic violence is a form of control by using violence. It comes in many forms; mentally, physically and emotionally. It not only affects the victim's life, but it affects the children for a lifetime. If you trust God and step out on faith, God will release you from this evil force. If you don't act on it, it will lead to the victim's death, the abuser's death or both in prison. You will know when enough is enough. Call your nearest Battered Women's Shelter.

This month we recognize Tai Shi "Co Co" Varner for her bravery as a victim of domestic violence. She was sentenced to 5 years in prison on September 1, 2010 with voluntary manslaughter. May God be with her as she goes through her journey.

Many of us have experienced domestic violence at some point in our life;however a great number of women do not make it out,or end up in prison for killer their prepetrator. By the grace and mercy of God, I made it out. Many of us do not share with others out of fear, shame or even pride. Not wanting others to really know what's going on inside your home. Sometimes we feel alone, and that no one understands.

I think it is wonderful that Brenda Justice, and the members of Power of a Dream got involved in this case. Often families are left to deal with the end results all alone. By opening up the doors on domestic violence it can possible prevent someone else from experiencing these sort of horrific tragedies.
